SAMSPELT is a sculpture based on pixels.
I was asked to design a decorative object with a Scandinavian theme. I have always loved sculptures and my dream is to design a sculpture for a city park, so I decided to go for a figurative object. In interiors with lots of furniture and electronic items, objects that relate to nature can bring great harmony. Inspired by the computer symbols designed by Susan Kare, I started to draw animals in pixels. The result is sculpture of a deer, build up from 15mm cubes. I am amazed and fascinated by how our brain can recognise the soul of a deer through such a simplification of the image. Samspelt is cast in aluminium and very durable. It makes me happy that everyone can now afford a cast miniature sculpture for their home.
